  • First you need to click on the start icon on your windows 7 ( Basically on the left down side of your desktop).
  • Then you need to click on Control Panel.
  • After your are inside the control panel you need to click on the search Search box.
  • After clicking on the search box please type in ” personalization ” and click enter ( Type personalize without the quotes).
  • Then you will find your self in the Personalization windows, here you need to seach for “Change Desktop icons” on the left panel of the personalization windows.
  • Now when you are in the windows you need to click on Desktop Icons and then you need to click and select the checkbox of the icons which you don’t want to be shown in the desktop.
  • Press OK

And that is it, you have successfully hidden your desired desktop icon. Now to unhide the same icon you need to undo and unclick on the icon that you have hidden.

  • Then in the Right top section you need to Click on search and type in Control Panel and then click on Control Panel in the result.
  • After your are inside the control panel you need to click on the search Search box.
  • After clicking on the search box please type in ” personalization ” and click enter ( Type personalize without the quotes).
  • Then you will find your self in the Personalization windows, here you need to seach for “Change Desktop icons” on the left panel of the personalization windows.
  • Now when you are in the windows you need to click on Desktop Icons and then you need to click and select the checkbox of the icons which you don’t want to be shown in the desktop.

Now to hide icons on windows 10 you simply need to follow the steps below¬†First you need to search and find a setting namely “Show or Hide common icon on desktop”, to do that follow a simple step :

  • Go to the start button on the bottom left of the desktop and type “Desktop Icon” in the search button and press ENTER.
  • Then you will see a new windows where you will find the “Show or Hide” common icon on the desktop of the search result.
  • Now simply select the icons which you want to hide.
  • Press OK.

And that is it, you have successfully hidden your desired desktop icon. Now to unhide the same icon you need to undo and unclick on the icon that you have hidden.
